Études

An ephemeral retail system designed in collaboration with Études, a collective founded in 2012 and based in NYC and Paris, that seeks to explore and erase the fine line between fashion and design through interdisciplinary experiences based on experimentation and collaboration. The Pop-Up is exhibited temporarily at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles. The retail system looks to convey Order, Cleanliness and Sophistication, all classic characteristics found in Études collections, using a rack, a display case and several different decorative elements such as vinyl and a rubber mat to frame the system’s space. Each piece in the system was conceived to simplify its assembly and transportation without sacrificing the aesthetics shared by Savvy Studio and Études: sober and functional sophistication under a strong contemporary essence with special attention to detail.

The central display is the system’s lead protagonist and intentionally reminiscent of a traditional file cabinet. This clarifies his function as an object that simplifies categorization and exhibition in an attractive and practical way. The modular system is composed of a number of parts assembled with a hidden mechanism designed to be easy to transport and export from its fabrication in Mexico to its exposition in Los Angeles.
