MPBA is the Museum of the Palacio de Bellas Artes’ first commemorative book, a celebration of the museum’s 80th anniversary, a tribute in all respects.
The book is a reflection of the museum and its elegant, dynamic, and timeless nature.
It’s a heightened representation of the materials, textures and essence of the great architectonic monument that pairs perfectly with its strong, contemporary, Mexican identity based on monochromatic patterns.
Its content is a compilation of archived images, records, employee interviews, and former directors. It is a visual essay of the art that has been exhibited in the museum from the beginning and essays about its famous murals as well as a reinterpretation of them led by contemporary artists.
MPBA tells a story of the museum, founded in 1934, and is considered the most important museum, in an honest and self-critical way.
The project was developed in collaboration with Caviar Izquierda and the Institute of National Bellas Artes.
