STUDIO MONOLITHIC

Immersed in art, passion and a deep respect towards wood, Studio Monolithic is in itself a sculptural journey of unique and majestic pieces of wood, crafted into beautifully modern and artisanal furniture.

Studio Monotlithic’s concept is passionately rooted on both sustainability and craftsmanship, converting monoliths of timber wood into unique furniture pieces for a discerning audience.

Each piece is a sophisticated one-of-a-kind monolith, rooted in nature’s art and refined with skilled craftsmanship. Created under the creative direction of Fitzhugh Karol, Studio Monolithic is one of upstate New York’s most treasured assets.

Our creative concept began around a reading of wood itself. Analysing its complexities, textures and patterns. Our branding would depict and compliment nature’s organic and rustic beauty.

Scans and transfers of different pieces of wood where the primary assets in this process to create rich and natural textures that bring attention to the fine details hidden in each piece.

Combining deeper studies on both intellectual and physical approaches towards wood were key elements for creating a soulful and artful brand. Our design approach was fed by deep research and empirical understanding of wood as material.

The identity for Studio Monolithic results in an artful experimentation with sculptural and wood types combining both sans-serif and extended typefaces in order to explore space, together with a serif to convey a core element of warmth, craft and natural heritage.
