On The Sunset, Which Is Only One

SUNSET CHAIRS, seven

There is only one sun. It does one thing.
Where the observer stands does the rest.

Seven positions, Seven results — none constituting the sunset, each an account
of what light does when asked, from a given vantage, to explain itself.

Perception is not incidental to this phenomenon; it is the phenomenon.
Two observers before the same sky receive two distinct events,
and neither account supersedes the other.

The chairs function as witnesses, each retaining a single fragment of testimony.
Considered together, they do not resolve into one sunset — they refuse the premise
that one ever existed. Only light, in motion, and a body positioned within it.
