slam jam

For Slam Jam’s in-residence shop in NYC we designed a bare-form modular totems and furniture family. Functioning as a well-rounded experience, the assembly of sculptural items are meant to be displayed and read individually, but when observed as a whole, a stage narrative conveyed.

We used particleboard panels for its naturally rich texture that perfectly details the whole system when looked up close or from a distance. Totemic yet modular functional sculptures where developed to showcase the product in an orderly but striking way.

This bare-form concept was inspired by Max Bill’s and Otl Aicher’s design principles, developing a form that works based on its functionality, but also where an individual piece or module can cast its own iconic character, or be read as a coherent exhibition system when looked at as a whole.
