OMET

Omet is a brand which projects Mexican design through collectible objects and furniture that synthesise, manifest and communicate the most relevant in this sphere. The name is derived from an abbreviation of Ometéotl, the aztec god of creation.

The identity is based on contemporary aesthetics as a part of a historical blueprint, drawing inspiration from prehispánico cultures with a lookout towards a future of astronomical perceptions.

The logo was created from a slightly condensed sans serif type, inspired by old Mexican newspapers but with a monolithic reinterpretation and is complemented by an emblematic icon which hints towards prehispánico art, using lines that generate a sculptoric effect.

The type system combines a contemporary and formal serif with a monospaced one which brings an analogue and modern personality to the mix.

Mexican and modern at once, the brand also borrows inspiration from codices through a heavy footprint which is later translated in a subtle manner.

Looking for an overall universality in the exhibition of Mexican design, the layouts are inspired on astronomical diagrams, resulting in a graphic interpretation of observation and contemplation of the skies to heighten the design, through dynamic editorial structures.
